Pre-Assessment Training to Dominica’s Public and Private Sectors

The Honourable Attorney General for Dominica, Mr. Levi Peter expressed his gratitude to the Caribbean Financial Action Task Force (CFATF) for the recently concluded Pre-Assessment Training which was held from the 7th to 9th December 2021 via the Zoom virtual meeting platform. He underscored that, “this is an important effort to satisfy requirements for our mutual evaluation” and thanked the 11th European Development Fund (EDF) through which the training was supported via the Project ‘Implementation of the Mutual Evaluation Programme’. The three-day training was attended by over seventy persons across Dominica’s legal, law enforcement and financial sectors.

The sessions were conducted by Deputy Executive Director Mr. Loxly Ricketts, Financial Advisor and Mission Lead Ms. Nikima Prince, Financial Advisor and Co-Mission Lead Mrs. Knalidi Jackson-Frederick of the CFATF Secretariat. Some of the topics covered included risk and context for Dominica, preparation for the onsite visit and technical compliance and effectiveness relating to the finalization of the Mutual Evaluation Report.

The Pre-assessment Training is aimed at a country’s public and private sector stakeholders to ensure that they cooperate and understand their responsibilities and are equipped in preparation for the Mutual Evaluation Assessment. Dominica’s Assessment is scheduled for August 2022. Therefore, the training provides the technical support needed to better prepare countries to demonstrate their compliance with and effective implementation of the Financial Action Task Force’s (FATF) Forty Recommendations and Eleven Immediate Outcomes, which are aimed at combating money laundering, terrorism financing and proliferation financing.
